| The Garden Factory first built greenhouses in 1982. We started out with ten houses at 45,000 sq. ft. but as of today we have expanded to 250,000 sq ft of greenhouses and 20,000 sq ft of shade houses. Our houses have computerized climate control to automatically water and to open the roofs for ventilation on hot days. When it is cooler out we heat the houses with natural gas. Here we grow all of our own perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, Easter plants and poinsettia. We sow over 3 million seeds, plant over 1 million rooted and unrooted cuttings. 100,000 of those are our Christmas Poinsettia while another 100,000 are a local favorite, bedding geraniums. It takes 75,000 cu ft of soil each year to grow all these plants for our customers enjoyment. |
